Test Description
- What it does: This test looks for IgG antibodies, which are produced by the body’s immune system in response to an infection. IgG antibodies typically appear later in the course of an infection and persist for a long time, often for life, after the infection has resolved.
- Why is it performed? This test is used to provide evidence of a previous Chlamydia pneumoniae infection. It is not typically used to diagnose a current, acute infection, as IgG antibodies may not be present in the early stages.
